Welcome to PhotoWorkshop.US Adventures. We offer to you a unique life experience, not just a vacation or typical photo workshop. Our experiences are designed to be creatively stimulating, and to offer a variety of activities that will enrich your life. By blending communications and culture, we enable you to become immersed in; the Spanish language, visual communication through Photography, and to gain an appreciation for the rich and beautiful Culture of the Costa Rican people and the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Costa Rica.

Communication
This is what this experience is about: enriching lives through creative communication. Whether in the form of creating powerful photographic images, or through learning a new language, our participants will leave enriched. Our philosophy is that immersion in a learning environment that encourages the advancement of personal objectives will foster creativity and true retention. In terms of language, this will allow the student to learn Spanish at an accelerated rate. While regarding photography, this will allow you to creatively explore, in the pursuit of creating your own images.

Adventure
In addition to constantly Photographing in Costa Rica, and learning Spanish at a fantastic school, we will take numerous road trips where you will be able to practice your new language skills in a practical setting--which will expand your photographic possibilities. You will be afforded experiences that simply are not possible in traditional education. While on our adventure trips--ranging from hikes in exotic jungles, visiting live active volcanoes to experiences such as white water rafting through the rainforest--you will be able develop a new appreciation for the natural beauty of Costa Rica. We will visit all of the exciting areas you have heard about and simply must see as a tourist, but in addition we will have the opportunity to visit places that are off the beaten path of other tourists.

Photography
It is impossible to not be motivated to create amazing photographs by the awe-inspiring and exotic locations we will visit. Our photographic excursions will allow for hands-on photography, in addition to instruction and critiques by (an) internationally recognized photographer(s). Whether you are looking to enhance your photographic portfolio, or you just love photography and want to spend time somewhere where there are great photographs to be made in any direction you can point your camera, our adventure will allow you to become visually immersed in Costa Rica. You will be traveling with like-minded enthusiastic fellow photographers. So we will all understand that you just have to make one more photo before we move on to the next exotic location.

You will bring home the best souvenirs of any trip you have ever taken, your own amazing photographs!

Language
Our immersion Spanish classes usually consist of three to four students and never more than six. This intimate class size helps us tailor our programs to your specific needs and to adapt our teaching method to your learning style. You will be placed in classes according to your Spanish proficiency level (or lack thereof). We realize that you may speak no Spanish at all, and that’s OK! This is an amazing way to learn Spanish. No traditional classroom experience can compare to learning through immersion. You will practice what you have learned everyday, in normal life situations, and on our adventures.

About us
Your photography instructor(s) are American, and are internationally recognized. Your language instructors are Costa Ricans, many of whom speak English. The language academy in is owned by Costa Ricans, so you will be surrounded by people that have first-hand knowledge of Costa Rica.  All of your instructors are college/university educated and credentialed in communications: language or visual.

Participants & who should apply
Photography and non-photography students are welcome to participate at any level of skill, from beginners to advanced photographers. You will need your own camera, digital or film, for this adventure. No prior knowledge of Spanish is required, but if you already speak Spanish, our instructors can accommodate your further learning of the language--at any level.

Age Range: 18-108.

Accommodations & Food
All of your accommodations are included and will be arranged for you both in San Jose and on our adventures. Additionally, all breakfasts and dinners are included while in San Jose. Most other meals are included, but you will have to purchase most lunches and snacks on your own.

Accommodations in San Jose are home-stay style, where you will live in a Costa Rican home where you will have your own private bedroom, to enhance your cultural experiences. We can also accommodate married couples and families in the same home stay.

Accommodations on our photo adventures (outside of San Jose) will generally be at hotels, and are based upon double occupancy.

Meals
Your Costa Rican home stay family will provide you with two daily meals (breakfast and dinner). Vegetarian dishes and other special dietary concerns can be accommodated during your home stay, if requested when registering for the trip.

Classes
All Photo and Spanish classes are included in the price of the trip. Also included are, all class materials, latin dance classes, cooking and conversation classes.

CEUs
We now offer CEUs to all participants that need credit for their non-credit educational activities.

Cost
Includes pick-up and return to San Jose airport (air fare to San Jose not included); all ground transportation for adventure excursions; lodging (rate based upon double occupancy) for 20 days / 19 nights; Photography and Spanish instruction (up to twenty four hours of Spanish in San Jose, additional charge for full immersion Spanish up to forty-eight hours).

Film, photo processing, digital image transfer and supplies not included.

Note: Just the tours and accommodations on this trip have a value of over $4300, as quoted by several travel agents in Costa Rica--not including the Photography & Spanish components of our workshop.

Please note that a 50% non-refundable deposit is due before we arrive in Costa Rica [due by February 28, 2005]. Sorry, but we must have firm committed numbers of participants in order to facilitate this adventure in a professional manner.

Group: Limited to twelve participants, so Register early!  Note: if we have great demand, we may consider creating a simultaneous adventure group.
