DAY
1, Tues Depart USA to Peru. Your flight includes meals, drinks, and
in-flight entertainment for your journey. For
flights arriving late Tuesday evening, passengers will require an
additional overnight in Lima ($49 per double room).
DAY 2, Wed Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel.
This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the National Museum of
Archaeology & Anthropology and visit the Larco Herrera Museum. Balance
of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy a tour of Lima by night.
Drive into Lima's historical center to Plaza Mayor and view the
illuminated Cathedral, Government Palace, City Hall and the Archbishop's
Palace as well as the Justice Palace and Civic Center. Walk through
Barranco, the bohemian district of Lima.
DAY 3, Thurs This morning, enjoy a tour of
Lima, the "City of the Kings." Visit the archeological center at Huaca
Pucllana. Continue to Plaza Mayor, Lima's Main Square, and site of the
Presidential Palace, City Hall, the Cathedral, and the Archbishop's
Palace with its ornate carved balconies. Visit the San Francisco
Monastery, then drive through the residential districts of Miraflores
and San Isidro to enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean.

DAY 4, Fri Transfer to the airport for your
flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your
hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. This evening, there will be a tour
of Cuzco by night. Drive through city and view its mix of colonial and
Inca architecture. Pass through narrow streets and view Spanish palaces
built over Inca walls. Continue to the "Cristo Blanco" for a magnificent
view of the illuminated city. The tour ends at the Museum of
Pre-Columbian Art housed in a beautiful colonial manor.
DAY 5, Sat Today, we embark upon a full day tour
to Machu Picchu, lost city of the Incas. Transfer to Ollanta train
station for the Orient Express' Backpacker train service to Machu Picchu,
where you will begin your guided tour of the marvelous citadel. Visit
the main plaza, the royal quarters, the Temple of Three Windows, the
circular tower, the sacred Sun Dial and burial grounds. Return to Cuzco
in the evening.
DAY 6, Sun Half day at leisure
in Cuzco, and enjoy a half day tour to the Sacred Valley. Drive through
the Sacred Valley of the Incas to visit the Inca fortress of
Ollantaytambo. Stroll through the Inca living town where time seems to
have stopped 500 years ago. Lunch at a nearby inn, and visit the lively
and colorful Indian Pisac market where locals, following ancient
traditions, sell or exchange their products.
DAY 7, Mon Tour the city of Cuzco. Visit the
Cathedral and view its collection of Colonial art. Continue to Santo
Domingo Convent which was built on top of the main temple of the Incas,
the Koricancha or "Temple of the Sun." Drive to Sacasyhuaman, believed
to have been an Inca fortress then visit the archaeological site of
Qenko. Balance of the day at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a dinner and
a Peruvian folklore show.
DAY 8, Tues Transfer to Cuzco Airport for your
return flight to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Lima.
Balance of the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner (B,

DAY 9, Wed Transfer to the airport for your
departure flight. For late afternoon or evening
flights, passengers may reserve a day room ( $49 double room). |
